What is the One-Shot® Method?
It is the patented world’s fastest method to produce car parts that allowed SAPA to be awarded with the Innovation Award in Detroit in 2017: the award is given to the invention of the year at the most important automotive plastics event in the world.
What does the One-Shot® Method do for you?
This Method guarantees that you reach your budget, cycle time, lightweighting and recyclability objectives that were given to you (and that you will never reach by sticking with the traditional method, which has not been innovated in decades).
Why is the One-Shot® Method different than any other technology you might have tried?
Because it compresses all the steps of the traditional production methods into just one patented, all-in-one method. One-Shot®: literally, just one shot.
What does the One-Shot® method allow you to reach in comparison to the traditional method?
TRADITIONAL METHOD | ONE-SHOT METHOD |

Is it really possible to reduce the parts’ weight and costs thanks to the One-Shot® Method, thanks to having just one production process, hence also reduce the amount of scraps, and even use less manpower?
The One-Shot® Method was created precisely for these reasons.
We have a clear objective: transforming raw material into one finished part in one single automated process.
Where 3 or more production phases are needed, we compress them all down to just one.
- Without manpower.
- Without errors
- Without scraps
The result?
Your parts are more lightweight and less costly (and productivity increases).

Our history
WHERE WE STARTED
At SAPA, everything finds inspiration in Angelo Affinita, the company founder.
When he was a kid, he worked with his father, who produced artisanal door and window frames. A nice, noble and artistic job, but also time-consuming and labour-intensive. Every frame was hand-made.
The intuition that Angelo Affinita had was to switch from artisanal production to series production.
Optimising the processes. Optimising the product. Fewer costs and guaranteed quality.
The same spirit and the same objectives that SAPA kept when it was decided to specialise in the automotive sector.
HOW WE GOT TO THE ONE-SHOT® METHOD
In order to win over a car maker and convince them to change their habits, you need something exceptional.
Offering our parts was not enough: we had to stand out thanks to something that would be really (but really) unique.
We needed an effective, secure and fast solution that would not pertain to just one component but that could be replicated on the entire production chain.
Something that could change not the way one instrument sounds but that would perfect the whole orchestra.

Who talk about the One-Shot® Method
Shot-SHOT® GUARANTEE
If the One-Shot® solution does not keep its promises, the backup part with the traditional method will be paid by us
What does this mean?
When you request a quote, you will receive two offers from us: one with the One-Shot® Method, the other with the traditional method but the tooling costs for the traditional method will be borne by us.
Zero risks for you, with a guaranteed alternative solution.
LET’S EVALUATE THE APPLICATION OF THE ONE-SHOT® TO WHAT YOU ARE WORKING ON TOGETHER
At this point, you are really ready to say goodbye to:
- Excessive emissions and the nightmare of another Diesel Gate
- Heavy parts not in line with Horizon 2020
- Impossibility to reduce costs
- Constant and very expensive downtime
- Endless number of production phases and delivery delays
- Non automated processes, deformations and scraps
But please allow us to answer 5 + 1 questions first that I’m sure you are asking yourself.
Many years of experience led you to have more trust in the process you know.
The One-Shot® Method is something innovative, it’s true. But it is no experiment.
It is a patented method and it is already industrialised on many parts: many car makers, like Volkswagen, FCA, Jeep and Alfa Romeo are trusting SAPA to apply the One-Shot® Method to their parts, clearly only the moulded ones.
Certainly, the One-Shot® Method addresses the more curious engineers that are looking for valid alternatives that can help them solve the most intricate issues with their work.
Engineers that look to the future and who, for example, would like to solve the issue of downtime once and for all.
Engineers that dream of endless productivity for their parts.
Engineers that want to look good with their bosses (and colleagues).
Mainly for one reason: The One-Shot® Method is not an alternative to the traditional method you know. In a way, it is its evolution.
all the engineers that worked to create this method know about and can apply the traditional method. Precisely for this reason they worked to overcome it.
The idea of optimising the production line is not unheard of.
Maybe you have come across other companies that do something similar. They compress production steps and optimise costs.
There are many skilled colleagues that work in this sector and we are all looking for the best solutions to meet the various requirements of the automotive world.
However, I recommend you asked yourself some questions.
- Can they make a part of the same quality as ours?
- Do their parts have the same performances?
- The same weight?
- And how do they compare with us in terms of traceability?
I challenge you to find the answer to each of these questions, but if you want to save your time, I can give you a – very clear – answer to all these questions: NO.
True, there are companies that do similar things. Some of them do one thing, some others do other things.
But I guarantee without any fear of being proven wrong that no-one else has an organic method that can be applied to everything and that is patented with all the industrial advantages that you need.
By examining the other available options, you will notice that you will incur in one or more of these conditions:
- they don’t have a patent for their merit that protects them
- they don’t produce in one step but maybe in 2 (or 3 or 4…and these can very quickly become a high number of expensive steps)
- they lower costs, but what about quality? Is it the standard you need?
- they lower costs, they maintain high quality standards, but they don’t increase productivity (for example: with them you produce 5,000 pieces, with us 100,000. These numbers are just examples. Download the report and you will discover the actual percentages relative to productivity increase, I think they’ll surprise you. Quite a bit).
In the literal meaning.
There is patent number that applies to this technology. (You’ll also find it in the report. Download it now).
Clearly, it is the method that was patented, not the parts produced thanks to this method.
This is because the products are just like the ones produced with the traditional method. The difference lies in the method used, whereby the One-Shot® Method will make you save time, it will reduce the weight of the parts ad it will reduce waste.
And there is another difference, too: SAPA’s internal Innovation Engineering department has been working on using new bio composite materials to create its parts.
So, besides offering the benefit of using more lightweight and resistant materials, SAPA also invests in the sustainability of its moulded parts.
So, you admit that this method seems to bring many advantages.
The problem is that in this moment you are working on another car part and the parts created with the One-Shot® Method so far are not what you need.
In reality, this is a secondary aspect: One-Shot® is a method, non a product. This means that it can be applied to any part that you are currently working on or that you may be working on in the future,
SAPA specialises in advanced polymer moulding, hence the part must have only this fundamental characteristic.
Another positive consequence of all this is that the One-Shot® Method is replicable and exportable. Whether you want to produce in Guatemala, China or Germany, it will always have the same costs and the same advantages.
The work of an engineer can be very varied.
In this moment, you may be working on a part not made of plastic or it may be that you are still a long way from choosing the supplier that will produce the part: you may be just only be working on the numbers to begin designing the part you need!
The early stages of a collaboration, i.e. the planning is very important to SAPA.
Working together right from the planning stage is fundamental to co-design the product in a way that is functional to the application of the One-Shot® Method, but also so that the design is custom-made for the car maker.
Needless to say, the Window Frame that was designed for the Volkswagen Arteon (and already produced with the One-Shot® Method) is not going to be the same as the one of another Volkswagen car, or FCA or Opel and so on.
This is why we talk to you early on.
Because it is a delicate and demanding process, SAPA will work with you at designing the part step by step.
We’d like to answer this with another question. Are you among the car makers that still make one of these five mistakes?
- You believe in the traditional production method as if it was your only God
- You have allowed others to convince you that a faster and better performing way to produce car parts does not exist
- You accept delays and production downtime even though they keep causing immense issues for you
- You consider electric cars as the only hope to reduce emissions
- You are resigned to being slowed down by the same issues that you are faced with every single day
If your answer is yes, then the One-Shot® Method cannot do anything for you.
If on the other hand you have understood that these are the exact reasons why you cannot obtain what you desire and deserve at work, then contact us now and we’ll discover together how the One-Shot® Method can solve your problems.
